“Water Story”

I thought to re-present and blog this article “Water Story” now, partly because here in Sydney it is winter, which is the season that correlates to the element water in Chinese Five Element Theory, but also because globally these are uncertain and frightening times – the water organs Kidneys being associated with security and so the realms of home, work, community and family, and Urinary Bladder associated with fear and anxiety.

I begin with an introduction that looks back to when I began to formulate the ideas set in the main article. Through this time, from about the mid-1980’s on, the exponential rise in our population, which reflects so much of our impact on Earth, was still climbingthough the rate of increase had slowed.

Hans Rosling (Don’t Panic — The Truth about Population” BBC 2 documentary Nov 2013) eloquently presents how birthrate is settling towards two world wide for each reproductive couple, which would replace them without adding to their numbers, but which means the world population will fill out with those that will age to a modern life expectancy, so that while they grow old, population could continue to grow past our current almost 8 billion towards 11 billion. While environmentally, any such numbers may be unsustainable – we refer to comets and volcaniic eruptions of the past mass extinctions for perspective over our current situation – Rosling points economically to a civilized equality – if those in the $100/day developed world could ease off jet travel towards the level of just cars and $10/day motor bikes, and those below poverty and $1/day bicycle economy could rise towards the $10/day motor bike level.

At any rate, this is not the direction we have been and are heading in.

Introduction to “Water story” – July 2020

I began to form the ideas set forth in this article on water intake in the mid 1980’s, when Jane Fonda’s Water Diet and aerobics was “in”, and PET bottles of water were coming to the fore (Coke and Pepsi in “single use” PET bottles from 1978).

The Cold War was nearing its end (1989). The Berlin Wall still divided Germany, Russia occupied Afghanistan, and Gorbachev was trying to keep the restructuring of the Russian economy – perestroika was also “pepsi-stroika” – under control. Japan was growing its “bubble economy” (burst 1992), and computerization and digitization was underway, with America firmly in grip of it.

Western modern and urban lifestyle, with its social, cultural and health effects, was continuing to spread over the world. The world wide trend, of people’s exodus from rural regions to cities, was also underway in China since after Mao’s Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution (Mao died in 1976), and with Deng Xiaoping’s Economic Reform and Open-Door Policy – together with the “flow” there too of America’s cola drink, Coca-Cola (Pepsi in Russia).

Threat of nuclear war and destruction had eased, but financial, resource and environmental concerns were yet clearly defined. We had gone through Oil crises (pl. 1973 and ‘79) and were trying to come to terms with possible limited reserves of resources in general. However, the big financial bubbles were yet to form and burst.

Physicists looked to a single formula that combined Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. Philosophers still held hopes for truth beyond empirical probability, sociology and chaos. Prospectors mined the rift between economics and finance, their claims to value soon to be staked on the double ledger, in credit and debt bubbles, completely bereft it seems from bricks and mortar. Politicians used “political correctness” like a ball in a game, to compete between the left and right, which eventually blurred their differences (the left and right), and which only affected matters that were politicized (namely race and gender), nor were these addressed beyond accountability and correct terminology, for inequality seems to have re-surfaced as systems, human, technological and natural, are now strained. People were leaning about nature and pollution, sought their “roots” and considered other cultures and sustainability, while those in the developed world continued to jet about, as if to take it all in before disappearing, while still trying to “move up” in the world.

Governments managed the economy, apparently. Central Banks, debt and corporations still seemed to be under their sway – seemingly accounted for, economically in trade, exchange and settlement. Though for some suspiciously un-accountable, the financial creation of value and money and what they are based on (speculative), most didn’t care as long as it, money and credit, “flowed”. And it did flow, faster and more with communication or information technology, and with computer programmes (automated or algorithmic trading) raking in prospective profits behind the scenes of speculative business. Increased transactions in themselves raises GDP. There was hope for a better world and future. Environmental threat was still a matter of debate or documentaries. Consumerism, progress and development buoyed the sense of value in currency.

Health wise, there were inroads being made into cancer and cardio-vascular disease, in association with advances in genetic mapping and analysis, imaging (MRI scans) and micro-surgical and mechanised techniques. The Pritikin diet was “in” in the 80’s of high fibre and low fat and cholesterol for the prevention of cardio-vascular disease (yet to distinguish the different cholesterols, and before statin drugs for lowering them), and by-pass surgery was becoming more readily available. There was also growing recognition of stress and the importance of hydration for the human individual.

There has since been a sort of commercial and consumer sophistication in health and well-being that is more and more technical and technological, strongly influenced by developments in our civilization with digital technology. Reliance on these, specialized products, procedures and information, takes us further away from our innate physical and organic basis.

While my work, on the human condition and Reality (hc.R), pursues our relationship as part, with one’s Whole Being – Who, in the real world of Reality, transcendent beyond our reality of notion and sense, of conscious experience and self, is embodied, alive and next to other Whole Beings and Whole entities of Reality – and is presented elsewhere, I find still very pertinent today the approach presented in the article to follow, for the intake of water. Water is a fundamental and integral part of Earth and life on it from before computers, PET bottles, exercises and cities.

I would also add to “Water Story”, now nearing 40 years after its initial consideration, the following, which has become more relevant to me and my aging peers :
There may be fear of a full bladder and timely access to a toilet, especially when not at home. The morning bolus is the one of usual concern. I find it passes in two “visits”, one at home soon after breakfast and before leaving home, and the second after commuting and arriving at a destination. Otherwise, a regular and decent filling and flow (rather than dribble) is good both for the bladder and sphincters, in a similar way to the “good stress” described in the main text to follow.
There may be problems dealing with the fluid load for those in heart or renal (kidney) failure, for which individual professional advise should be sought.

Water Story

It is recommended that a bolus (single large dose) of water be taken at morning and dusk each day for the rest of your life. Regulating the intake of the second most vital substance after air, is an easy way to establish a healthy tone and daily rhythm to your whole body.

Anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) plays a key role in the management of the body’s fluid ballance. As part of a generalized shut down for sleep, levels of the hormone are high during the night causing an anti-diuresis or production of low volumes of concentrated (dark) urine. The bladder is slow to fill so that ideally there is no need to get up during the night to empty the bladder.

Approaching dawn, the level of ADH in the blood dramatically lowers. The kidneys are then set for the passing of large volumes of weak (clear) urine or diuresis (as with diuretic drugs). After a nights shut down, the body is ready to be flushed, re-hydrated, and re-adjusted throughout its various “fluid compartments” within the body (generally intravascular and within and between cells but also in different glands, organs and tissues).

With the morning dose of water ideally taken at least 15 – 30mins before breakfast gastric, digestive and mucosal glands are readied for secretion. The rapid expansion and contraction of the stomach by the bolus dose and its rapid absorption and emptying, acts as an internal wake up stretch and is an effective stimulus for peristalsis (intestinal contraction that propel contents by its wave like propagation through the intestine) whose wave begins at the stomach.

1 pint (600ml) to 1 litre depending on age, gender and body size, is to be drunk steadily without too much of a break. Discomfort is often encountered and takes some minutes to pass. Stomach distention and pain indicate stomach weakness, liver strain may cause nausea and spleen weakness a faintness. The symptoms are from stress on the organs and may take weeks to months to settle. It is a good stress that tones the organs. Appetite and bowel movements are also stimulated.

Animals come to the water hole at dawn to fill their stores of water for the day and replenish it at dusk. Unless there is an excessive loss of fluids, as with sustained and intense physical strain or extreme heat, it is better to use up fluid stores and replenish them at the end of the day. Then, the kidneys and the body in general firm for activity during the day instead of becoming bloated or water logged if fluid is taken through the day without the distinction of intake and use; we can imagine core fluid compartments inert or flabby with lack of use and exercise if fluid is not moved and exchanged, stagnant while superficially becoming over sensitive to wet or dry.

Chinese medicine designates 3-5pm as urinary bladder time and 5-7pm kidney time. Emotion for the kidney is security, fear for bladder (incontinence in fear). The end of the day is the time to windup your tasks and take stock for the day, replenish your stores and settle. Fluid intake should not be necessary after dinner. The body is ready for the night’s closure with the return of rising levels of ADH.

In our modern lifestyle the natural cues of the daily cycle, of activity and light are numbed by transport, lighting, housing, programmed/personal entertainment and institutional work around the clock. Controlling your water intake is an effective way to introduce a natural cycle to one’s life. It is also a good way of establishing yourself in your time zone and place from jet lag, commuting as well as staying up.

No one can be sure

Nothing is certain except for our Truth – our self and conscious experience reality being part of one’s Whole Being, and our Whole Beings being of Reality, in the real world of Reality :

No one can be sure
just confident against sad
a quiet unassuming steadiness
easily stilted with fear, incited with rage,
chased by the subconscious to a consumptive dependence.

Much must then we put aside
that build up dark in the shadows
of our efforts that steal sustainability
we when lost from being part, from one’s Whole,
and democratic freedom empower those of critical mass.

Whether weather or well-being
we’re the issue en mass dependent
on networked mono-cultured streams that emanate
the exponential projectory peak, as had been foreseen, (quite accurately by 1940’s)
of our human numbers, progress, innovation and development.

From finite form and faculty
apparent diversity within each “corona-ed” field
our endeavours and specialties that propagate and determine
their particular concerns, with meaning and value – as quantum field its particle (syntax of grammar its participle, as biology its issues of life, as each field of study or endeavor propagates or “corona-s” as they determine their particular topics and items, as well as propagate them – self-referential and mutually dependent are fields and their particles, in their displacement, differentiation, determination and propagation, all within our Representational reality)
but no longer can we justify them Naive when all the while, within our reality Representational.

Too late it seems even for “de-growth”
as global homeostasis seems to have tipped
and we refer to past extinctions by asteroid or volcanoes
while reliance, for our problems and needs, on linear causality,
know how and can do, continues to create new wants and
 outcomes unintended.

Dependent on our systems, history and nature
though we may rebel against changes we’re born into
the evermore bureaucratic hold on our specie’s destiny
will not budge, even with anarchic struggle, against state, power and control,
for we innately challenge selective fate of Nature, unless we come to our Truth.
(we control and create our environment – avoid natural selection – and place our self suspended in experience, of the
world we create, denying the support and freedom from one’s Whole, and the Truth of our being part, of Who is in the environment or the real world of Reality rather than experience of it)

Gone with transcendence of one’s Whole
is the tacit and mystic truth of our being part
in one’s knowing, know how and notion and sense
of being and doing, existing and living in our reality – we are lost
while one’s Whole Being of breath, cells and action, lives in the real world of Reality.

While Earth exists and allows for our life-style
we may learn to partake in one’s living Whole Being
transcendent though He or She is, one’s Whole exists
in the real world of Reality, which we can affect and be reached by
through one’s Whole in becoming part, in our reality of
 conscious experience.

All our faculties come from beyond us, from one’s Whole – to be responsible and be in conflict, to be self and free, to thank and blame, to be conscious – as well as what we are conscious of, experience, think and feel.

like God

There must be something like God.

First, there must be a whole being who is of Reality,
who must be a godly being for carrying our reality as part,
just for doing that, and for all that happens and can happen in our reality.

And there must be All- Creation-God that is Reality,
the one and only whole, every where, every place, everything, whole and part, All-God.

Everything is a part of Reality. Our all is a projected part of
our whole godly being who is in and of Reality, itself.

It must be something like God, the One and All,
we must be deep inside Reality, inside our whole’s projected reality.
Immanent in being part, transcendent of our part.

Quantum and projection

All be it indirectly (through our whole being‘s sense organs and brain), we are given an experience that is an indication of the “phenomenal aspects of reality”, the aspects of reality that our whole self is sensitive to according to his or her sense organs (link to blog the “phenomenal aspects of reality” https://realityhc.wordpress.com/2016/10/08/the-phenomenal-aspects-of-reality/).

Our whole “sees” the light (and projects our experience of vision for us to think that we see) that bounces off the surface of things in the real world that are not too small. Sub-atomic particles are too small for this. En mass and intensity they can split atoms, damage genes and cells and burn things. Depending on how they are “observed”, their existence is indicated by their radiation (wave like quality) or by the mark left after their passage (as particles), say through a sensitive film that leaves a hole or a mark of where they were.

The precise existence of sub-atomic particles is uncertain in our space and time references; sub-atomic particles seem to “jump” and “associate” right through our references. I think things that “exist” at the speed of causality (= C, also “happens to be” the speed of light, other electro-magnetic waves, sub-atomic particles/radiation and gravitational waves), “move” in space-time, in what may be considered the very fabric of the cosmos. It may also include black holes, dark energy and dark matter beyond our visible realm. This idea of sub-particles, photons and other electro-magnetic radiation, and gravity waves existing in space-time, to me helps explain how entanglement works as described in quantum mechanics – where associated particles are related across significant distances the moment one of them is observed or determined in our space and time references.

Let me consider here how our existence as projection, our “projected actuality”, projected by our whole being through the Central Nervous System, is like the quantum state.

I think something like entanglement also occurs in our reality that is projection, in very familiar instances. When we communicate, it is with an another who invariably sees not him or her self but an image of the other’s whole being, and vice versa, where we meet “entangled” as opposites in association over particular perspectives and contexts that, for our time together, determines one another in our projected realities. Empathy is a real thing, but it occures in projection, of another’s sense projected by our whole. It is again, an association that determines one another. Intuitive sense seems to transcend the normally dominant cognitive boundaries in a less constrained flow or connection where, in the analogy of the quantum world, our distances, time and identity seem to join or mesh as if in space-time.

Smooth synchronised movements in dance, sports, martial arts, music but also any activity or work, requires an integration across different parts within an individual whole, and in separate whole others when we play, hunt, dance, perform, work etc., with others.

The synchronised integrity of parts within our whole is stifled and blocked by the rigidity of cognitive knowing. We are familiar with risking the seeming security of know-how‘s certainty and control, to allow and let go to or “go with” a greater flow we become a part of, whether in one’s whole being or in association with others.

In projection, we may exist in our sense of space and time. We may also exist in our actuality as projection, as a part within our whole, and be “connected”, with different realms, identities and states of being, as if in space-time. Perhaps we may understand in this way premonitions, telepathy etc. where the normal boundaries of time, place and identity, seem transcended, beyond the references that normally determine us and what we experience or happens in our reality.

References and contexts that determine what we experience, are parts of our projected reality. We may as self or identity in our reality, observe the laws of Newtonian physics (of billiard balls and planets) in the world we experience. It is a part of our projected reality consistent with space and time, a functional indication of such aspects of the real world, with our sense of being in it and its time, that is our tangible world of our here and now.

We are normally dominated by this indication of the world. We are conscious of its space, and change that occures apparently through our sense of time with the observer, us, as the experience-er, before the witness.

As remarkable as the quantum and relativistic world may be, reality must be more than the sum of both and of any other aspects of reality, which include the Newtonian in space and time, life, chemistry, wholes, consciousness and the humanities that we as humans may be conscious and aware of. The probability of our whole being’s existence is also more remarkable than the non-living matter of atoms, entropically, functionally and structurally speaking. The enormity of the integrity, of cells in themselves, their specialising into organs and their functioning, but also of an integrated and “stable” living whole, is reflected in the richness of qualities that determine our self and our necessary “countenances” – necessary for our particular reality, our self and what we experience, to be. The countenances are our “entangled other” and are projected parts of our whole. Much of it is in our subconscious and unconscious, and include our memories, dreaming, deeper feelings, instinctive and intuitive parts. Compared to us, the qualities that determine sub-atomic particles and their entangled association with an other, is elemental, such as their spin.

As a sub-atomic particle may be lost in space-time from its potential of being a part of a whole atom, we our selves as an identity, are lost in projection away from our whole, identified in our self and with what we experience. Our other, our countenances, are many for us, because we have identified and “associated” with many things on many occasions. They build up in our subconscious as we continue to identify away from our whole.

Our whole should determine our existence and our other parts for their being parts of the same whole. Be displaced from your experience, and the life that you are having, be distinct from people you meet, but as a part, of your whole who encompass your all. It’s not just all in the mind but your feelings and deepest being and sense of self, others and the world, are also there, as projected parts of the same whole.

Just as reality must be more than the sum of its aspects (the Newtonian, quantum, relativistic and of any other aspects of reality including life, and wholes) our whole is both of solid organs and projection, and is more than their sum. He or she is also of reality, and in reality.

Within the projected part of our whole being, we may be the billiard balls (Newtonian), before the reference of perspective, and manifest, in the experience, manifest like matter and gravity within the warping of space-time, but in projection. We can also be the observer in our self having the experience, with shifting points of view and references (relativity) but with a witness, which may witness the observer or experiencer (that is us) as well as what we experience.

u-001.jpg

Actuality”, is our existence in fact as a part of our whole, projected by our whole through the brain and spinal cord (CNS or Central Nervous System). In our actuality as a part of our whole, we connect through projection beyond being the observer having an experience, and the witness is included/invited. Our parts integrate and join with our whole, through projection, in our/their actuality as projection. Being projected actuality is like being a quantum entity in and of space-time; we become a part in the very fabric of our whole being who’s (projection’s) warping throws our here and now and tangible reality that correspond to space and time, and matter.

Physics has gone beyond “the observer makes a difference” of sub-atomic particles, which are displaced or altered with the act of observing or determining them. Instead of attempting direct observations, physicists use “passive ways”, as I understand it, to monitor the quantum, and they have described the existence of sub-atomic particles in terms of probability.

An example of such “passive ways” is to filter rather than measure photons of a certain polarity, by which a relation between associated photons are demonstrated. This relatedness seems to occur instantly across space and time, faster than the speed of causality, without being predetermined and at the instant of determination (noticed by passive means).

Understanding this and its mechanism is the frontier of science, in the quantum aspect of physics. Consciousness or noticing, and causality, may have a speed that is measured in our references of space and time, but creation, or reality if in our minds we need no creator for creation, is there, in the instant, everywhere, is of space-time; reality is present in the present; our “here and now” unfolding (projected space and time) is a “warped” projected part, of our whole being of reality; reality is more than the sum of its aspects we may recognise in our projected reality (with quantum, relativistic, Newtonian aspects) and try to understand.

message 02This perspective, over reality itself and our own projected reality of “conscious experience and self witnessed”, is afforded by “Orientation” of our reality, including our self, in space and with our whole being. We do not exist in reality, our whole self does. We are a projected part of who is both body and projection, and more than their sum. We do not exist without our whole, but we may be lost in projection isolated from our whole. We may become an integrating part, rather than isolated; our whole may be more integrated and complete with integrating parts.

Poem Straight up JUn17 (5)Our whole is like the universe for us – our world extends and opens indefinitely in different ways in different directions, within a projected part of our whole being. Our whole is beyond our projected part (transcendent) and yet he or she infuses it (immanent). Like an electron of an electron cloud within an atom, we are an identity within a projected “cloud” of our whole. Our whole being “must be” for our self and our reality, as projected parts, to be. He or she must be a “godly being” for being of reality, and for being more than the sum of his or her parts.

We can be absolute with “Orientation” about our basis, origin and source. We have our whole as our creator and projector, and the conscious and witness are projected parts. The conscious is conscious of, and by the witness we are aware of our self and what we experience, including our deeper being and our mind’s certainty, of infinit-ism, circularity, and foundational-ism (which depend on their sequence and world view see Munchausen’s trilemma).

Finally, alogies were drawn here between the fields of physics that seem to correspond with the various aspects of our projected reality. Understanding that the whole self provides what we experience of the world (phenomenal world), from aspects of reality that he or she is sensitive to through his or her sense organs (“phenomenal aspects of reality”), lends insight into the very activity of scientists and the nature of their theories.

I propose the Newtonian, relativistic and quantum worlds exist in our actuality, as projected virtual versions of those aspects of reality. Physicists experience and try to understand them, those projected versions, and challenge their theories, of them, out on each other and in reality.

Our philosophy and science can never be reality. We must understand that aspects of reality are what we try to determine in our endeavours. Our understanding of reality may grow beyond quantum and relativistic theories, but it must include our self, as the observer and the witness, as well as the conscious, as parts and of our whole, who is of reality. We can “orientate” with and distinguish our self and the whole self, our reality and reality, and come to be a part of our whole and so, reality.

Knowing, so

We have come to know so much of how things happen to be, and what things make-up reality, in their numbers, substance, essence, and story. Yet, in knowing, we are away from actuality, of our self and of the world we experience. We ponder our part with words, even pace our path in our sense of being in the world. But they are within “our” reality, of our conscious, self and what we experience.

As self or identity, lost in our reality from our whole, “we” are deprived of being immanent of Reality, as a part of our whole. We determine what we experience. Our reality tends to be a linear reductive identification, in what we think we are and do in the world, we can think “we’re in”. There is no approach to, or appreciation and actualisation of our being a part of our whole, and so of Reality.

Knowing and know-how, of science and technology has complicated our lives, extended and augmented the self, created more problems and strains within our realities and in reality (environment), and there seems to be no end, no “that will do, Pig(as the New Zealand farmer would call “Babe”, to take him home to where it’s all at, after a great success to not let stardom get to your head) we seem to be hurtling unstoppable, like lemmings towards a precipice, like a particle making its own field, as we plot our selves level within our frame (of reference) but through our exponential curve.

We progress on and on, but also regress so, on and on, as we act and consider why, how or what, to be or to do. We may form a circle to contain our all, what we experience or know, accept our self-referencing circularity. And we may quest for what is outside that circle, its core, edges, or perhaps essence. Physics’ boundaries demonstrate some of these : what is outside beyond the universe, what was before the Big bang, where are quantum particles controlled from and how, what is the nature of space-time.

Of course, the medium determines our expression, whether it be the scientific institution, the app on the phone, or the work place. We may be opinionated, if not optimistic, in our post-modern familiarity with our involvement. It is just as if AI has stepped through the inter-phase into the world, and like two membranes passing through each other, AI and the inter-phase (appliance, computer, robot) intersects right through our self and identity between them. We are extended into and enmeshed by the technological medium, to places we’d not get to without the medium, as it filters or smears “us”, as self or identity into and through it, directly to the AI, in our reality,

Learning and self generating (observers can’t see what they, the computer things, are doing to generate their programmes) capabilities of computers cause reflexive emergence from between parts, of a whole new individual original initiative, of not just growing but running itself with generative direction or bigger circles.

I think it is time for us, to activate the whole computer, ours, to bounce as a part within the “system” of our whole, for the reflexive emergence of more than their parts, the activation of other parts and our whole. Boundaries need to be re-established with an mereological (study of parts and wholes) orientation for Reality, our whole being and our part in the human condition.

We are engaged, entangled in our self and identity, with our sense of others and the world. We must understand our reality as part of our whole, and our associations as parts, of who allows for our reality and is next to other wholes in Reality.

AI and subjectivity

Just when through modernity, we’ve gotten used to the self, we’re loosing it into the technological media. Who’s there, in charge?

There is a new impetus to examine subjectivity, with the developments in AI (artificial intelligence) and its encroachment on so much of human activity. And they are actively applied in reality, in drones, un-manned buses, language generation, face recognition. Their moral consequence is “us” the subject, put on the spot. What is it, to be human? Who or what is the true self? Is there free will? Is it a predetermined destiny where we have no choice, but to enact our human programmes? In thus just reacting to our environment, what difference is there from AI?

Being a part

Being a typical part-ical, yet particular, particle :
we bounce reflexivital off each other, of a common whole.

Quantom phenomenom is being a particle :
When you notice it, “Woops!?”
Reality is another matter :
You in it, are, of it. A part
of a whole, including the noticing, you, in, are, of, and, and it.

The whole is gone, down the hole,
up the hole, side ways through or into the hole …. out? (also back, black, and singularity holes)
Where !!!! am I? A part to all this?
Must be, but separate! (with other parts and the rest)
Being the part, within a whole.

Holes connect dichotomies – me and you, inside out, conscious matter
and open their ends,
to infinity as witnessed (by which aware)
and to infinitely conscious of;
more than dichotomies then with, by witness aware of, and the conscious conscious of.

What is it? What was that?
Aware of, by witness, What it is.
Conscious of, a part.
Time, distance, parts, more, the rest, a whole, an entirety.
Reality is everything, including beyond inclusion (out) and nothing.

Fundamental and universal, of us and our reality, is projection – our projected “actuality” (in projected space), and our “whole being” of reality who projects us (through his or her CNS or Central Nervous System).
Projection means there’s who projects.
“Behind all this”, our reality, is our whole being, whose CNS is an integral part of him or her.
How can we be in relation with our whole? Why should we care?
